Is it advisable to put in a big % of your income into the retirement account. There seems to be a nearly 30% early withdrawal loss if you ever were to pull money early out of that prior to 60 years of age. So basically your own money will be lost.
Any ideas on this issue? It is not that I am planning to withdraw early but just for information purpose.

In cases where the letter attaches a list of corrections or deficiencies in the application, an employer must correct or address these before processing can continue. When a BEC does not receive a response to its 45-day letter, or this response is incomplete in responding to corrections, it closes the case
The process and remedy described below are available to employers who believe a case has been closed due to issues surrounding the receipt of or response to 45-day letters, including:

I don't think so, only Green cards and citizens are charged on world wide income.

There has been a great amount of discussion among our members a few months back when the last date for such disclosure was and the majority opinio was that everybody has to report all foreign accounts containing more than 10K. Interest on FDs are taxable and if you already paid tax in India then you have to disclose that in the IT returns here.
Anyway I dont know whether they would take the pain to check out all resident aliens who have bank accounts in their home countries unless, as you said, they become US citizens/GC holders.

One of my friend filed on July 2nd through her lawyer but she has not received any Receipt Notice (her checks have also not been cashed yet).
Her lawyer has the Fedex delivery confirmation that the application was delivered on July 2nd.
Anyone in similar circumstances? Would appreciate any help on this matter.

This article has an overall competitiveness argument saying that the American Competitiveness is not under a threat.
The PACE act is to protect that IN ADVANCE from happening...ie. having the american competitiveness under a threat from India and China.
I am going to discredit one argument in his article:
He says: We do an outstanding job of education for people ages 18 to 65. I beg to differ. If that is his argument to claim that there is no shortage of talent, then he ought to read a survey report funded by Pew Charitable research. The tools used was the same used by National Assessment of Adult Literacy, the government's examination of English literacy among adults.
More than 50% of students at four-year schools and more than 75% at two-year colleges lacked the skills to perform complex literacy tasks.
That means they could not interpret a table about exercise and blood pressure, understand the arguments of newspaper editorials, compare credit card offers with different interest rates and annual fees or summarize results of a survey about parental involvement in school.
The survey examined college and university students nearing the end of their degree programs. The students did the worst on matters involving math, according to the study.
Almost 20% of students pursuing four-year degrees had only basic quantitative skills. For example, the students could not estimate if their car had enough gas to get to the service station. About 30% of two-year students had only basic math skills.
The full article was published recently on all major media outlets including CNN, MSNBC and USA today.

EAD is not a status. It's just an authorization for employment. Since you have filed 485 you and your spouse are in adjustment and so I don't see how your using EAD to work invalidates her H4.

Can some one help me out on the above subject, i had birthcertificate which contains only my Father's name( This birth certificate got from MRO office at AP, India). One of my friend told me that the birth certificate should contain both Mother and Father's Name.
Can some one provide me sample birth certficate , so that it will helpfull to me send to my parents, so that i will get BC from MRO office, AP, India.

I am opening this thread to bring focus to the real issues at hand and how to channel our energy (frustation) effectively for seeing postive results
Primary Issue - In my opinion most of us are frustated not because our GC is being delayed. But we are frustated because we have no concrete information/data/stastics to reliably predict when our pending case will be up for review.
How are we trying to resolve the issue?
Currently we come here express our ideas on how to get bills passed, discuss solutions to fix the problems, organize campaigns, rallies, send flowers, etc,.
Why we don't see much success with our current approach?
Organzing a huge rally is not easy, making 25000 people send letters is not easy, organising 200 people to send flowers is not easy. We are unable to get our message across to the correct authoratives.
So what can we do?
As we all know most of call USCIS for status. And also we know USCIS has a limited number of customer service agents.
I would suggest that we all call USCIS every month 3rd week from mon -friday and just ask for our case status and other things what generally our members ask. We should do this every month 3rd week. The goal is to increase the call volume.
We can all call DOS starting 10th of every month to check about the visa bulletin until it is published. We can ask them for projections, predictions and all that you can think of with respect to visa bulletin. - The goal is to increase the call volume
We should be polite during all our phone conversation with the agents.
What do we get by increasing the call volume?
All customer support call centers gather information on the type of support calls they receive. They use this information to address issues to reduce the call volume.
To address the issue USCIS and DOS should try to give out more relevant information in their visa bulletins and also give more information in the case status online.
What can we do with more information from USCIS and DOS?
We can plan for our future better, since we have better information.
IV can focus on real issues when we have the accurate information.
We will have better information while we ask for reforms in the EB GC system.
We will have less frustation because we have a clearer idea when to expect our pending case to become active

I just checked my transfered h1b petition. It says reciepient date as aug, 23rd and work permit starting august 28. My previous company (A) fired me on 23rd. So, this is my case. I also would like to remind you that after shifting to Company B I got my H1b visa stamped. This is the second time I am going for stamping for visa renewal.
Given that my h1 transfer recipient date is aug 23rd (same day I got laid off),am I still safe?
Please also let me know if I could use adv. parole if some worst happens and get my h1 renewal visa gets rejected. Please respond me as soon as possible. Thanks.
You should be fine. From these details, it seems you were not out of status.
Even if you were out of status for 7 days, this can not ground for visa denial. If visa is not issued (or rejected), AP can be used for re-entry.

Its not ata ll meaningful....I just hate to see no order of processing taking place...still many guys with older filing dates waiting and guys filing as late as a week back gettign their receipts...system any where sucks man..

You can get it corrected at any local USCIS offices. But its time consuming effort.
